I started playing guitar at ten years old and received my first cavaquinho at seventeen. I did not have formal musical education; I learned a lot through practice. I always enjoyed playing in casual samba circles at bars. Over time, I began to develop an ear for music and picked up the tricks of the samba circles (strumming patterns, sequences, repertoire, phrasing, etc.).
